Contains biographic sketch of Vassos, mentioning him as a well-known artist and industrial designer as well as dog lover. Recounting his war record and his use and training of dogs, it is remarked that "Colonel Vassos' story of Rex and Lobo is the spontaneous tribute of one who truly understands dogs. It states further that his 1941 title, Dogs Are Like That, has become a classic in dog lore and a collectors items. "
A publicity release dated September 6th, [1946] mentions much of the same information as that contained in the blurbs on the dust jacket. It sums up the plot of the story with the following paragraph.
"How often have we wondered what kind of adventure our own pet is planning when he sets forth in an independent fashion on an adventure. It is the human quality in dogs that all of us love so much, yet we feel somewhat cheated out of the companionship, and the subtle, unspoken communication that one dog has with another. For this reason we are grateful for Rex and Lobo, for they are generous enough to let us in on their secrets, and for one exciting day to share their adventures... In your gallery of favorite dogs... from Binky, "my firstest friend," to the heroic Lad... you will now have to make room for a new pair, Rex and Lobo!"
