The Myth of Justice

Accordion book screenprinted on Rives BFK. The Myth of Justice was made in reaction to the shooting of Amadou Diallo. The number of times Diallo was shot at (41) and the number of times he was hit (19) formed the basis for this book. The nineteen bullets which struck Diallo are indicated in red with the remaining 22 in black. Under each red bullet is the name of another unarmed minority whose life was taken by police brutality. Edition of 3.

"The Diallo incident drove me to think of ways I could document the event. My goal was to contextualize the incident within the larger picture of police brutality. The end result was a document of police brutality in handmade book form, and specifically the shooting of unarmed minorities within the context of the Diallo shooting."
